East Yorkshire’s Premier Indie Rock Cover Band
Frequently Asked Questions
This is where we try and answer some of the questions we get asked most often by our fans. If you have a question which isn’t answered here you can get in touch through the web site, or just come and speak to one of us after the show.
What a great night – can I book Rattlefish to play at my pub/club/party/corporate event?
Yes. We accept bookings, subject to our availability (and whether we like you or not). To find out more call Leigh on 07919 544476 or drop us a line.
Isn’t it time you got a proper job?
Despite the dedication and commitment it takes to perform in a band like Rattlefish, we do all manage to spend a significant portion of our time in gainful employment.
What’s the average age of the band?
Numbers are not our strong point – especially big ones. Suffice to say that we are not quite as young as the songs we play.
Who are the hot chicks throwing shapes on the dance floor at your gigs?
That would be the lovely Rattlefish Wives, the inner cabal of our growing army of dedicated fans. Coincidentally most of the “Wives” are in fact married to members of the band.
I’m going on holiday to Florida next year. Can you recommend a good place to eat?
You could try our favourite seafood restaurant and waterfront hang out – the RattleFish Raw Bar & Grill in Tampa Bay. Tell ’em we sent ya!
Why is Leigh’s guitar so loud?
We don’t know. No matter how often he turns it down, the volume of Leigh’s guitar licks will alway creep back up to ear-splitting levels. Apparently it’s something to do with his “dicky pot”.
How come you guys all have “Fish” as a surname. Are you brothers or something ’cos you don’t look alike?
As far as we know, none of the band are even remotely related. “Fish” is a shared stagename, adopted as part of a cunning branding strategy. It also helps to keep our true identities a secret.
Is singer/guitarist Mike the same Michael Fish that used to present the weather on TV?
No. Michael Fish MBE was the longest serving TV weather forecaster and retired in October 2004. Our Mike Fish is still very much on the go, and has a few good years left in him yet.
Great name – but what is a rattlefish?
According to local legend, a number of rattlefish were pulled out of the River Humber between Hull and Goole throughout the late seventies and early eighties. Basically an eel with a scabby tail, the rattlefish was most likely a mutation caused by excessive levels of heavy metal pollution, rather than a species in its own right. The last confirmed rattlefish catch was 12oz from Brough Haven in 1982.
Isn’t Rattlefish a cult movie from the 80s?
You’re thinking of Francis Ford Coppola’s Rumblefish from 1983, starring Matt Dillon and Mickey Rourke.
The Rattlefish web site is so cool. Can I get one like it for my band?
You can, but unless you are lucky enough to have connections like ours it will cost you a few bob. The Rattlefish web site was built by the nice people at Art & Soul, East Yorkshire‘s premier interactive media and design consultancy.
You obviously spend a lot of time rehearsing. Has the exposure to loud music affected your hearing?
Pardon?
